Monthly Missions Update / november 2025 / volume 2 issue 11
Hello Morning Star Family!
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and Christmas is soon after. Take a look at some ways we can see what God is doing in transforming lives and how we can worship Him by serving those in need in our community. Thanks for being the body of Christ, on Mission, in Salem!
Take a look at this month’s updates:

global partner Lunch: scott & jamie
going away lunch and Q&A time, Sunday 11/16/25 1pm South Auditorium:
We're thrilled to send off Scott & Jamie in prayer & encouragement during church services on 11/16/25. After years of preparation, they're ready to go internationally & fulfill the Lord's call on their life to share Jesus among the least reached peoples of the Muslim world. They are about to embark on their long term adventure and we have this one last opportunity to encourage them, pray for them and send them out well! We'll share a meal together and you'll be able to ask any questions you'd like about their ministry and how to help them. The meal is free and registration helps us prepare enough food. Don't miss out on this opportunity to see what God has done and anticipate a little of what He is yet to do. You'll be encouraged & inspired at what God is doing!

Local Partner – Salem Angels:
executive director transition update
Brooke Goldsby shares:
It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve as Founder and Executive Director of Salem Angels the past six years — from the earliest days of research and dreaming, through our launch, and into the vibrant, growing organization we are today.
And now, it is my profound privilege to introduce our new Executive Director, Angie Newton. It brings me immense joy and confidence to pass the baton to someone whose vision, heart, and leadership will carry this mission forward with strength and purpose. With her at the helm — supported by our incredible staff, dedicated board, and all of you — I truly believe the best is yet to come.
To every one of you who has supported us from the beginning, walked with us over the years, or just recently joined this journey — thank you! Your belief, encouragement, and commitment have built the foundation we stand on today. I’m filled with gratitude as I cheer on the future.
Please take a moment to watch the video above, and join me in welcoming Angie!
Till Every Child is Reached,

pakistan festival praise report
Reid Saunders shares:
God moved powerfully in Pakistan! This outreach marked our fourth year in a row serving in this beautiful nation, and it was incredible to see how the churches came together in unity like never before.
Over 45,000 people heard the Good News and 8,700 made a decision to say “yes” to Jesus! Everywhere we went, we shared the message of Jesus, proclaiming that people can go from death to life, from lonely to connected, and from guilty to forgiven, all through faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone.
Thousands attended the festival, and many put their faith and trust in Jesus. We witnessed several miraculous healings. Everyone who made a decision is being followed up with and connected to a local church, because we believe we are not just called to make decisions but to make disciples.
Incredibly, the festival was announced on a national TV station owned by the government. Only God could open doors like that!
Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” That truth came alive as we saw so many discover peace with God.
Thank you so much for praying. God truly moved in a powerful way!
All for Jesus!

additional ways to advocate for refugees:
Right now, World Relief is most urgently focused on the presidential determination on refugee admissions. Every fiscal year starting on October 1, the president must decide the "ceiling” – the maximum number – of refugees who will be resettled to the United States through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.
According to early press reports, the Trump administration may be considering setting the ceiling at just 7,500 for the upcoming year, a drastic reduction from the FY2025 refugee ceiling of 125,000. Beyond the alarmingly low number of refugees, this administration is also looking to shift the focus of the resettlement program away from those fleeing war and religious minorities persecuted for their faith.
Setting the refugee ceiling at the historically-low level of 7,500 – at a time when more people are forcibly displaced today than at any other time in recorded history – would be inconsistent with American values, President Trump’s own stated desire in his first term for the program to be used to protect persecuted Christians and others facing religious persecution, and our Christian commitment to care for those who are in vulnerable situations.
Recently, Myal Greene wrote in the Christian Post on the reasons refugee resettlement should be important to those who care about the persecuted church. Matt Soerens also was interviewed by Josh Schumacher at World Magazine on the problems with a low refugee ceiling. Please take time to read these articles and then join us in petitioning the White House to set the refugee ceiling for the upcoming year at 50,000.
