Monthly Missions Update / september 2026 / volume 3 issue 9
Hello Morning star family
Check out the updates below from our Local & Global Partners to see how God is at work in our community and around the world! We're especially excited for our team heading to Central Asia in a few weeks. See more details below!
GLOBAL PARTNER - JEFF AND SARAH
GARAGE SALE FOR UPCOMING CENTRAL ASIA TRIP
It was such a joy to have Jeff & Sarah here for much of the Summer. I hope you were able to talk with them and hear about the great work they are doing in Central Asia. Just after they returned home we have a big garage sale to raise funds for our team that will be joining them October 15-24th.
The sale went well and we sold a ton of items. We saw over 400 people attend the sale and we raised an incredible $4757.50 toward the trip! The team is now FULLY FUNDED and able to continue focusing on prayer, getting our Visas, finishing our training and packing for the trip. If you donated, shared the social media posts, came to the same or bought anything THANK YOU VERY MUCH! We appreciate your help! If you're still wanting to donate we can further help Jeff & Sarah in their work throughout the region!
local partner - hope pregnancy clinic
Hope Pregnancy is having their annual Fall Dessert fundraiser and you're invited. Check out the link HERE to register.
The details: Saturday September 26, 2026, Salem Convention Center. Reception at 6:30 pm; Program at 7:00 pm.
At this fundraiser we'll hear inspiring stories of the life changing and life saving work that happens at Hope Pregnancy Clinic. Community support is vital to helping pregnant women make the decision to carry & parent their babies. Hope Pregnancy stands ready to provide the education, encouragement and support through ultra sounds, counseling and sharing tangible resources for these women, but it all costs money. We can all help with this so their work reaches more people.

check out the other great updates from SFR:
Summer at Salem For Refugees has been full of connection, learning, laughter, and community. From soccer fields to classrooms and gatherings, we have loved seeing families, volunteers, and community partners come together.
What an amazing summer of community it has been!
An Amazing Soccer Camp!
This summer, more than 100 kids joined us for Soccer Camp!
Throughout the week, campers had the opportunity to play, learn new skills, make friends, and simply have fun together. What made the week even more special was the incredible group of volunteers, coaches, and community organizations who stepped in to make it possible.
From donated supplies and water bottles to volunteers giving their time on the field, this camp was truly a community effort.
We are so grateful for every person and partner who helped create a place where kids from different cultures and backgrounds could come together around something they all love: soccer!
Activities at blossom gardens and grand fir!
Throughout the summer, SFR hosted activities at Blossom Gardens and Grand Fir, creating opportunities for kids and families to connect right where they live.
Arts and crafts, outdoor games, sports, and other activities gave children a chance to get outside, be creative, build friendships, and enjoy their summer together.
These programs may look simple, but they help turn neighborhoods into communities — places where families know one another and children feel like they belong.
learning all summer long
Learning continued throughout the summer for both kids and adults.
Our Summer Learning Club gave children opportunities to read, practice important skills, play educational games, and stay engaged while school was out. At the same time, adults continued participating in English classes, building language skills that support everyday life, employment, confidence, and connection in the community.
We are grateful for every learner, volunteer, and team member who helped make these opportunities possible throughout the summer.
you’re invited: Ten together
Join us as we celebrate 10 years of Salem for Refugees at Ten Together, an evening of stories, community, and gratitude.
Monday, September 14
6:00–8:00 PM
Riverfront Park Amphitheater
Everyone is welcome. We hope to see you there!
As summer comes to a close, we are grateful for every family, volunteer, partner, and community member who made these moments possible. Each activity, class, and gathering is another reminder of what can happen when we show up for one another and continue building uncommon community, together.
