FINANCIAL UPDATE - June 2026
Hello Church Family,
Happy summer to you all! I hope you are ready for a season of sunshine, lemonade, and refreshment as we continue to lead people to pursue a Jesus-first life. I’m amazed at how busy we all get in May and June with holiday celebrations and all the festivities that come with the end of the academic year. A HUGE shoutout to all of our graduates! Well done!
As we head into summer, you will be hearing a lot about our Great Camp. We’re taking well over 200 middle and high school students to Triangle Lake to infuse them with the gospel. I can’t wait to see what God does.
Here is financial information and other updates to keep you in the loop as we head into summer.

Explanation. We are thrilled to have started the year in such a strong financial position. God has moved hearts and it is encouraging to see His people give so generously. This opens many doors for us to continue effective ministry. We’re coming into the summer months, which historically take a bit of a financial dip, but we are delighted by where we stand right now with a full tank ready for kingdom work.
Maintenance Projects. Not everyone gets excited about maintenance projects, but it is our responsibility to care for the facilities God has entrusted to us. With the amazing year-end giving we experienced in 2025, the elders and I decided to set aside a large portion to take on some important deferred maintenance projects that have been neglected for years. I’m pleased to share with you that at last we are able to replace the back wall of the South Auditorium. This not only keeps a wall from falling over at any moment, but also allows us to reopen a classroom in our growing Children’s Ministries. We are so blessed; many volunteers have donated their time and resources to keep the cost of this project as affordable as possible. Next up? We are looking at replacing the roof at our main entrance that has been causing the leaks in the lobby for years. We hope to get this project done by the fall.
Property. I want to keep you updated on the 7.5 acres of our south property that is for sale to retire our $3.2 million debt. The Board has started to receive some serious offers that could materialize into a deal. We are still a ways out in having anything substantial to communicate, but I will keep you posted as things progress. Please keep this in your prayers!
That’s it for now. We’re looking forward to a great summer of ministry. I can’t wait for you to hear the camp updates soon and to keep you informed of all that God is up to. If you would like to give to the ministry of Morning Star Community Church, you can do so by clicking HERE. As always, I welcome your comments and questions (john@mstar.church).
Looking forward to another great year of ministry.
In all things, Jesus first!
