Monthly Missions Update

June 2025
Volume 2, Issue 6

Hello Morning Star Family,

May was filled with lots of Missions work! You’ll find that most of this month is filled with answered prayers and praises from all that God did this previous month. However, our first two highlights are things that are coming up this June for you to be engaged with. Thanks for continuing to pray and engage in Missions at Morning Star!

Global Partners Jeff & Sarah – from the Caucasus region – visiting our area June 7th through 13th!
Uniquely situated in a region with an influx of refugees, these Global Partners have an opportunity to minister in ways few others do. Online schooling provides these refugees with relationships, dignity, and practical tools to gain confidence so they can be contributing members of their society. This is all done with a heart to love people as Jesus did.

Sarah will be visiting our area in early June! As of now (June 2nd) there is some availability in the evenings of Saturday June 7th, Monday June 9th, or Wednesday through Friday June 11-13th, to learn more directly from Sarah. If you’re interested please email jared@mstar.church to set up a meeting.

June is WORLD REFUGEE MONTH and June 20th is WORLD REFUGEE DAY.

A staggering 122 million people worldwide have been displaced, forced to flee their homes and all they know because of war, violence or persecution, and nearly 44 million of those are refugees. They are in a different country, often having nothing but their lives remaining. It can feel overwhelming for us to get involved, especially with so much misinformation and misunderstanding about who a refugee is and why they must flee their home countries. We’ve curated these resources below to help guide us in practical understanding of who refugees are so we can be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need:

Local Partner Salem Free Clinics – Compassion Campaign results are here!
Thanks to those involved with helping SFC in their quest of caring for people in our community. Here are the results of the campaign directly from SFC:
Global Partner Mike Silva – recap of Zimbabwe trip in April.

Dearest Friend,
We are back from Africa after an absolutely incredible time participating in the Love Zimbabwe Festival (www.lovezimbabwefestival.org), a multi-faceted collaborative outreach event with the Global Network of Evangelists—a ministry of Palau (www.evangelist.global). We were in the town of Chinhoyi, with 77 collaborators, including myself. Below is the encouraging praise report from the Palau team. Thank you for sending me on this sensational outreach—I was humbled and blessed to take part in it! Through intentional partnerships, we continue to expand our reach and multiply our evangelistic efforts exponentially! -ms

“There were 77 collaborators on this mission. This includes 45 visiting Missioners from African Enterprise… along with 336 local AE missioners [each of whom shared] the Good News with those in every location possible.

Through social media and the various radio ministry moments that took place, we reached 149,549 individuals and saw 578 documented decisions. These came in via SMS and WhatsApp through Platinum FM.

Global Partner Reid Saunders – recap of Phillipines trip in April and Mexico trip in May.

Updates directly from Reid’s team:

REJOICING OVER 2,000 NEW BELIEVERS IN THE PHILIPPINES!

What an amazing time in Boracay, Philippines!

We were amazed by the turnout at the Love Boracay Festival and touched by powerful testimonies from new believers. One woman brought four coworkers, and all gave their lives to Christ. Another young woman shared how she had been feeling hopeless, but in a divine moment, the festival’s main musician, a well-known artist in the Philippines, shared the hope of the Gospel with her.

Across Boracay, lives are changing, hope is rising, and Jesus is being lifted high. God moved in incredible ways, and we are so grateful for every single person who came to the festivals.

Through your prayers and generosity:

  • 12,827 heard the Gospel
  • 2,096 decisions for Christ
  • 25 churches involved

REJOICING OVER 200 NEW BELIEVERS IN MEXICO!

Our team is back from an incredible outreach in Querétaro, Mexico!

We were so proud to watch Danny lead his very first outreach! Over the course of the outreach, 2,538 people heard the Gospel and 229 made the life-changing decision to follow Jesus.

One by one, people of all ages and backgrounds responded to the message of hope. Each decision represents a new beginning, and we are trusting God to continue His work in their lives.

We were especially moved by stories from our BMX team. None of the four BMX performers were believers when they joined us. But as they served alongside us and witnessed the love of Christ in action, their hearts were transformed. By the end of the outreach, all four had given their lives to Jesus.

God is moving in Querétaro and this is just the beginning.

Through your prayers and generosity:

  • 2,538 people heard the Gospel
  • 229 made decisions for Christ
  • one incredible new leader stepped out in faith

Thank you for helping take the Gospel to the ends of the earth with RSA.

ALL FOR JESUS!

Matt & Hannah Adams – Morning Star Missions Board Members

Hello Morning Star,

Over the last two weeks Hannah and I (Matt) have been serving in Wakiso, Uganda with a ministry called Mercy Childcare; alongside a team from Corban University. Mercy Childcare and Mercy Church are doing incredible work “leading people to pursue a Jesus first life.” Due to a host of regional issues Uganda has many orphans. There is no kind of government system to care for orphans. Mercy steps into the gap. Often in the background of ministry leadership we talk about the desired outcome. We ask ourselves, “is this ministry doing what it is supposed to do?” So, as we began to work with Mercy I was looking for signs that they are successful in their efforts. As the weeks went on we were introduced to people who grew up in the Mercy system and have gone on to attend university and are now productive members of their community. Hannah and I were so impressed by Mercy Childcare’s approach, resources, and impact.

One of the reasons that Corban sends a team to Uganda is because of a pastoral leadership training program that is run alongside the trip. The program runs for three years and the pastors come to Mercy twice a year to attend intensive classes. In Uganda pastoral leadership must have a Certificate Of Verification. Pastors graduate and receive a certificate from Corban. We met one pastor from a neighboring country. In his town the police have shut down most churches because their pastors did not have a certificate like he received from Corban. When he graduated three weeks ago he was able to go home and no longer fear his church would be shut down. Corban is doing extremely important work and it was an honor just to meet the pastors. But additionally, as a graduate student I was given the tremendous opportunity to teach two different class sessions and hand out caps and gowns.

We are happy to be home but already miss the friends we made and the beautiful country of Uganda. Many of you supported us through your prayers and financial backing. On behalf of both Hannah and I, thank you for your generosity and love.

See what I mean! God has done so much this last month that we can be thankful for. He still gives us opportunities in the future as well.
When we can’t see very far ahead, let’s be in prayer and step forward as far ahead as we can see!
