MStar Kids: A new prayer resource for Everyday family moments
Hi parents!
One of our greatest joys as a kids ministry is partnering with you not just on Sundays, but in the everyday moments of family life. Because discipleship doesn’t start at church. Discipleship starts at home.
As a church, our mission is to lead people to pursue a Jesus-first life, and one of the most powerful ways kids learn that is by seeing prayer modeled and practiced with you.
To support you in that, we’re excited to share a new family resource: ACTS Prayer Cards.
These prayer cards are designed to help parents and kids build a simple, meaningful rhythm of prayer together. Modeled after Jesus’ teaching on prayer, ACTS walks kids through four key parts of prayer:
Adoration – praising God for who He is
Confession – saying sorry and receiving forgiveness
Thanksgiving – thanking God for what He’s done
Supplication – asking God for help
Each card includes Scripture and age-appropriate prompts, with versions for preschool and elementary-aged kids, making it easy for your whole family to participate.
One of the best parts of this resource is how flexible it is. These cards aren’t meant to add stress or another “to-do” to your week. Instead, they’re designed to fit into moments you’re already sharing together, like:
Around the table at mealtimes
On the way to school or activities
During bedtime routines
While waiting in the car or at practice
After a hard day when emotions are high
Before a test, game, or big decision
Parents can lead the prayer one day, and kids can lead the next. Some families may read one card a day, others may come back to the same card all week. There’s no right or wrong way to use them. The goal is simply to create space to talk with God together.
It’s also important to know that this resource is not tied to the calendar. You don’t have to wait for a month with 31 days or start on a specific date. You can begin anytime and move at a pace that works for your family.
That said, the timing offers a meaningful opportunity.
The first Sunday in April is Easter. Using these prayer cards during March can help establish a habit of prayer that prepares hearts for Easter. Building a rhythm of daily prayer is valuable on its own, but how much more meaningful as we approach the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection together.
If you’re interested in receiving a set of ACTS Prayer Cards and starting on March 1, please email me at louie@mstar.church to let me know by Monday, February 23 so we can prepare enough resources for our families.
Thank you for allowing us the privilege of partnering with you as you lead your kids to pursue a Jesus-first life.
With you,
Louie Schmitz
