Staff – John Jaskilka

I’m thrilled to serve at Morning Star Community Church. I hope, as you get to know me and my family, you will see that we are ordinary people who love Jesus, love each other, and love people. My greatest desire in ministry is to help people live out what they are passionate about in a way that honors Jesus and builds His Church.

I grew up a pastor’s kid who always enjoyed serving and being involved. Rarely did my parents force me to go to church, and I got to be involved in several ministries because the church was small and I had energy. These experiences prepared me for ministry and were built upon during my time at Corban University and as a RIOT and Highlife intern at Morning Star in the mid-2000’s.  

After college, I married my best friend Betsey and we now have two wonderful boys named Toby and Jackson. As a family, we enjoy the summers most: bike rides, walks, swimming, picnics, and anything that takes us into the sun is what the Jaskilkas want to be doing. When it is not summer, we are watching and playing sports (go Ducks), but we always have an eye on flights and AirBnBs, hoping to chase down a good deal for some hot weather. 

As your Executive Pastor, you will always get my best. Before the Lord I will seek to care for you, listen to you, earn your trust, and help you fall more in love with Jesus while you are helping others do the same. There is no place that we would rather be than at Morning Star, seeking Jesus first with you all.
