January 2023 Financial Update

Hey Church Family,

We’re just finishing the month of January, and we’re already so encouraged by what God is doing in our church this new year! Witnessing our church family respond to 7 Days of Prayer and the Worship Night, in conjunction with the launch of our worship series Worthy, is uplifting to say the least. We are blessed and motivated by each of you as we strive together to become more like our heavenly Father.

Because you’re involved with the mission of Morning Star, you receive this monthly update to keep you informed about matters of finances and stewardship . . . because an informed church is a healthy church. Here’s how last year ended and what that means for us in 2023.

DECEMBER GIVING REPORT / MINISTRY FUND
December Budget: $240,000.00
December Actual Giving: $260,288.80

2022 Budget: $1,870,000.00
2022 Actual Giving: $2,006,800.55
Difference: +$136,800.55 (+7.32%)

2023 GIVING PROJECTIONS / MINISTRY FUND
2023 Total Ministry Budget: $1,925,000
January’s Need: $145,000
February’s Need: $140,000

COMMENTS. Y’all absolutely crushed it with year-end giving!!!! Thank you so much for your investment in kingdom work and for trusting us to steward God’s finances well. It can’t be overstated how encouraging the giving was in December, especially with all of the negative financial news our economy has been receiving. Way to go, church!

We are able to start the year with confidence as we roll out the new budget initiatives we outlined in the State of the Star, which you can find HERE.

Please continue to pray for our finances as we seek to steward every penny. A large portion of God’s financial provision in 2022 came by the means of a significant and unexpected gift. This makes 2023’s projections a tad more challenging and why we are budgeting 4% less than what we received in 2022.

SEEING YELLOW. Yellow is one of my favorite colors (Go, Ducks 😊), but I don’t love seeing the section of yellow building wrap on the side of the south auditorium as I drive up. During a recent storm, the wind knocked off a section of our aging siding and a group of hard-working volunteers were able to rush in and partner with our maintenance staff to provide a temporary fix. As one might suspect, we need to replace all the siding that surrounds the South Auditorium. If the weather cooperates, we’re looking at getting a big chunk of this project done during Spring Break. If you’re interested in volunteering some of your time to help, please shoot me an email to get more information.

GIVING. If you would like to partner financially with Morning Star Community Church in disciple-making work and/or set up automatic giving, you can do so by clicking HERE.

THANK YOU for your prayers and generous giving. Let’s keep growing in leading people to pursue a Jesus-first life in 2023!

In all things, Jesus first!
